Bridezillas
By Relationshiplab • Jul 15th, 2009 • Category: For MenI caught this show the other night called Bridezillas the other day, and honestly I don’t think I’ve ever been so horrified by anything I’ve seen before in my entire life. I’ve reviewed other outrageous shows before such as Hitched or Ditched, but this one takes the cake as the most obscene case of females at their out of control worst. The basic premise of the show is that it follows several hysterical, loud-mouthed, and control-freak brides-to-be as they prepare for their “happy day.” In this particular episode, we saw one 25 yr old mother of three from California as she prepares for her 2ND wedding and a frumpy drama tech girl from Augusta, Georgia.
Throughout the episode, I couldn’t tell which one was worse, but what I could tell is that both guys were in for the most miserable existence for the rest of their lives if they were going to stick with their psycho brides. I’ll just go through several examples of dysfunction in both brides separately to illustrate the insanity:
California girl-
Controlling/possessive- she won’t let her future husband attend his own bachelor party without her
Histrionic- starts a needless argument with her guy’s friend at the aforementioned bachelor party
Manipulative- insists that her guy needs to confront his friend because he “disrespected her” and if he doesn’t do so, then he is not a “real man”; threatens to cancel the wedding due to this incident
Narcissistic- Refuses to have any bridesmaids who are thinner than her, consistently reminds everyone who beautiful she is and how any guy is “lucky” to be with her
Violent- hits somebody at the club; smashes a cake that she doesn’t approve of
Overly materialistic/status obsessed- brags about the extravagant costs of the wedding
Drama queen- constantly looking to pick fights and strike up arguments
Vindictive- threatens to kill, bury and spit on the grave of anyone who gets in the way of her wedding
Georgia girl-
Controlling/possessive- insists that her guy always does everything her way only
Histrionic- constantly screaming at the top of her lungs at the first feeling of stress
Manipulative- settles disputes through bullying and screaming matches
Verbally abusive- constantly calls her guy an idiot and calls his family stupid and fat
Drama queen- spreads rumors about people, then agitates people against each other
Narcissistic- demands that groom’s sister be expelled from the wedding because she feels the sister doesn’t like her and “everyone” has to like her
What kind of abusive, sex-deprived background do these hapless fellows have to come from to put up with this crap? These neutered dudes must either have extremely low self-esteem from years of abuse and neglect or be so desperate for companionship and sex due to same case of low self-esteem that they are willing to put up with just about anything to have a “woman.” First, these marriages have absolutely ZERO chance of succeeding. As mentioned in a previous article, John Gottman, a marriage researcher found that marriages that had criticism and contempt as part of regular communication had an abysmally low chance of succeeding. These women have a classic case of thinking they are never wrong, which is a gigantic red flag as I wrote about previously HERE and they are willing to beg, borrow and steal just to get their way. They have at least three or four personality disorders all wrapped up together and maybe even one or two psychiatric disorders to boot. What makes their personality disorders worse is their maniacal drive for status and perfection as they try to achieve some idealized version of a fairy tale wedding they imagined from childhood. Here’s a news flash: a lavish wedding doesn’t equate to love, communication or understanding and expensive items don’t buy love.
Moral of the story: Beware of status-obsessed, perfectionist women- they turn into the Bridezillas you see on TV. I know that the whole marriage and knight in shining armor and happy ever after are memes that little girls learn in their childhood, but there comes a time when everyone has to grow up and realize the difference between creating a happy marriage and destroying everything in your path in your quest for status and perfection. If you see potential red flags in your girl, such as narcissism, always being right, manipulation and materialism, make sure you think long and hard about those pathetic chumps on “Bridezillas” and decide for yourself if you are willing to subject yourself to a lifetime of slavery and misery. Good luck.
